Dot Grid Divisions

Count the dots along one edge of the page — across the top for columns, down the side for rows — then pick that number below. Each page lists every way that run divides into equal parts, what is left over, and how it changes across a spread.

Counts run from 20 to 45. Widths assume a 5 mm grid, which is what Leuchtturm1917, Rhodia and most others print; on a 4 mm or ¼-inch grid the cell counts are identical and only the millimetres change.

One thing to get right before counting: a page n dots across is n − 1 cells across, because you write between the dots. If you counted squares, you already have the cell count — pick the number one higher.
