1st–7th 5th–10th

Fingers 4–2–3–1 on the D string, climbing 6 positions from the 5th to the 10th, in D major.

Each position gets four systems — the same four notes as half, quarter, eighth and sixteenth notes — and then one bar that shifts the first finger up a step into the next position. Every slur is half a bar long, so the bow keeps one speed while the notes underneath it double in pace.
